Leadership Family

Adam Boyd grew up in camping. While at Wofford College, Adam called his father, Spencer during one of his recruiting trips saying “Dad, I know of a girl who would make a great counselor for Merri-Mac.” A few years later Adam made sure that he would not lose this valuable counselor, marrying Ann in 1990. Subsequently, Adam received a Masters of Divinity, and later a Doctor of Ministry degree from Reformed Seminary. Ann, a Converse College graduate, serves with Adam as co-director and each of their three children serve on staff.

After sixty-five years running camps together we still have as much (maybe more) fun as the kids. Camp is in our blood, and we want your girls to feel the same way.

“Camp Merri-Mac has been an incredible experience for our daughter. It is such a wonderful setting for young girls/ladies to gain independence and build self-confidence in a safe, supportive environment. Our daughter has lots of fun, learns things about herself and tackles new challenges at camp — in ways that can’t be easily replicated at home. The leadership of the camp is highly professional and organized and it is clear that they run a first-rate operation.” – Camp Parent

A lifelong love of tearing down and building up started with Tonka trucks, tricycles, and treehouses, I needed to know how they worked and how to make them better. What began as simple child’s play turned into my desire to study drafting and design which quickly propelled me into the building trades industry. Construction taught me patience through the process. Sales taught me people matter more than products. Ownership taught me priorities increase progress. Camp-Merri-Mac taught me that I get to live the motto I have continuously shared with my three children, “Do what you love, and love what you do!”

I have been married 38 years to my lovely wife Karen. I enjoy boating and gardening in my leisure, but my favorite pastime is being Poppy to my five amazing grandchildren!

Mary Page and Will met while in college at UNC-Chapel Hill through RUF (campus ministry) and got married in 2018 after each finishing Master’s degrees at Wake Forest University.

Before moving to Black Mountain, they lived in Durham, NC where they both worked in healthcare for five years.

Camp is truly her favorite place in the world, and she is thrilled to be serving this year as the intern, hiring staff and sharing her deep love of camp and Christ-centered community.
