A Conversation with the Kitchen Master: Tina!
There are a million things that make camp great, but we all know that, above all, good food makes all the difference in the world!
From baked oatmeal to s’more pockets, our kitchen staff are focused on the details that keep us both happy and healthy during the summer.
Have you ever wondered about who plans, prepares, and serves all of the wonderful food at camp?
Tina is the area manager for Kandle Dining – aka the mastermind behind all of your favorite camp treats! We sat down for a short interview with her so that all of our camp families could learn more about this behind-the-scenes “wonder woman” and the work that she does:
How long have you been working with Kandle Dining?
Tina: 6 years. I had a chance meeting with the owners of the company. They brought me to camp, told me to try it out, and I fell in love with it.
What do you like about working at camp?
Tina: The kids, the camaraderie, how happy people are, how polite people are, and how excited the staff and campers are.
How do you hire the staff each year?
Tina: We hire a combination of international staff, using three different agencies. We also hire staff from the United States by holding job fairs at college programs that specialize in dietary studies and hospitality.
What is one fun fact people may not know about you?
Tina: I am an avid sports fan. I love the Cincinnati Bengals!
What are your favorite meals at camp?
Breakfast: Pancakes
Lunch: Stromboli
Dinner: Fried Chicken
