Thursday was off to a great start, chapel was lead by Rainbow counsellor Jana Lane Whitehead, her question was ‘what is sin?’. JL then explained a true story from in high school when she started shooting trap and was directed by her coach to do 100 gun lifts before her next class, after choosing to not practice, JL was unable to complete the tasked when she was asked by her coach. We then read the verse Romans 8:1-2 which says: “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death” and explained that sin is the choice to disobey Gods word by listening to our own wants, JL related this back to her high school self when she failed to do the 100 gun lifts as she chose to listen to her own wants and shared how lucky we are to have a loving and forgiving god.

In activities today, backpacking learnt the ‘Leave No Trace’ rules and went for a walk around camp to recognise plants, animals and ways they would leave no trace when camping in the woods! (i.e. only burning dead wood already fallen to the ground, not moving or touching an animals habit) and Riflery practiced aim through three rounds of competition.
Round one: campers had to shoot the target.
Round two: campers had to shoot at and pop a balloon
Round three: remaining campers had the opportunity to shoot at a playing card and whoever was closest to the centre of the card won!

Camp food is great! for breakfast this morning campers had pancakes and sausage patties shortly followed by waffle fries and chicken sandwiches for lunch. Dinner was a crowd favourite with Hawaiian meatballs and pasta and we got the chance to try a new dessert, funnel fries!
