Today was another BEAUTIFUL day at Camp Merri-Mac! As the final day of classes for first session, the fun was at an all time high, and campers were laughing and ever so spirited in ever activity I visited.

In lacrosse, the counselors had them scrimmage and then play water balloon egg-toss with their sticks, which was absolutely hysterical. In archery, a variety of girls from all age groups were spending their last class shooting at 30, 40, and even 50 feet. So incredible! Visiting Lake Doris was a treat in itself, seeing the kayakers completing their rolls and other skills they’ve acquired while swimming classes participated in free swim, where they played on our notorious blob and enjoyed the water slide as well!

Some of our indoor activities, such as pottery, cooking, and DIY crafts, were wrapping things up today as well. In pottery, campers were putting the finishing touches on their pieces by painting them the color and design of their choice, while the girls in DIY crafts made bracelets and put the finishing touches on their artwork as well. Cooking students made doughnuts as their final dish today, which were SO delicious. They included pumpkin spice and chocolate glaze!

Come meal time (where as you know we LOVE to sing songs), spirits were equally as high as we enjoyed tribe and cabin songs as a group for the very last time. The song “Dominate” the Choctaw Chief, Anne Dillon Loflin, and Choctaw Medman, Miller Ezell, wrote together was an incredible hit (as always) as all the tribes stood up to join Choctaw and sing it together. At dinner, the cabins sang each of their songs loud and proud for the last time, Moonmist even singing theirs in a British accent (shout out to my girlies). Sunnyside changed it up though by singing it a quiet whisper up until their hilarious add-on, which they sang loud and proud. They are all such wonderful girls that we have come to know and love.

Evening activity was the heartfelt final campfire and beautiful lakeside celebration. At final campfire, various white feather promotions, bars, electives, and camper and counselor commendations were announced and awarded to our wonderful girls. Recognitions were as follows:

A HUGE congratulation goes out to our newly inducted white feathers. This is an incredible honor here at Merri-Mac and difficult to attain. These girls have not only worked tireless to earn the necessary marks, but have also exhibited quiet leadership and the greatest of love for Camp Merri-Mac.

All in all, it was a wonderful, heart-felt, and memory-filled day here at Merri-Mac. With many tears and goodbyes also came so much laughter and good cheer. It’s a wonderful place to be as we prepare for a safe, prayerful, and celebratory closing ceremony tomorrow afternoon!
