What another lovely morning it was at Merri-Mac! The day began with the girls waking up and tidying their cabins. Then, we headed to breakfast where delicious French toast and sausage patties were served. Following breakfast, the girls hurried to the chapel where we sang classics like “Pharaoh Pharaoh” and “How He Loves.”

We listened to our very own Will Troxler, who taught us the question: Who is God? He shared a personal story about a time when he was in trouble, but his dad still loved him despite his mistakes. Just like God’s unconditional love for us, even when we mess up.

Next, the girls went to their first activity session where counselors emphasized the importance of safety. After their second activity, we had lunch featuring one of the most requested camp foods… mini corn dogs and mac and cheese! After clearing our tables, it was announced that tonight’s evening activity would be base jumping!

Base jumping involves campers receiving slips of paper corresponding to their tribes and attempting to reach various bases to earn points for their tribe. Bases include the archery range, Mike’s steps, riding rock, and a secret base at the lake. Sounds simple? Well, there are “stingers” (counselors) armed with socks; if they tag you, you must surrender your slip, which deducts points from your tribe.

After completing the day’s activities, we gathered for dinner with pork tenderloins, peas, and mini potatoes. Following our cabin songs, the girls eagerly set off for the evening activity.

Later, each cabin had their post-evening activities which included and not limited to making milkshakes, having s’mores, or even tucking puppies into bed. Afterwards, we snuggled into our beds, eagerly awaiting what the next day had in store for us!
