A Merri Day at Merri-Mac

A Merri Day at Merri-Mac
The sunny day of July 3rd started out with the bugle to wake all our campers and get started on chores at 7 am. Campers headed down to enjoy a yummy breakfast of baked oatmeal with apples and blueberry muffins, where the evening activity was announced as The Amazing Race. In this giant relay race, campers compete against each tribe all over camp, with challenges like swimming, hula hoops, and so much more. At the end, the winning tribe chief slides down in celebration for winning it all!
Campers then dashed up to chapel, where we heard from Cora with her truth story. Cora told us about a hike she recently went on with some fellow counselors to a waterfall. During the hike, Cora almost slipped and fell but was saved just in time by a friend on the trip. Just like this friend, Cora told us how Jesus saves us from falling down the waterfall of sin with His love and protection. She used Psalm 23:4 and John 3:16 to hone in on God’s amazing love that is always coming to get us just in time.
After chapel, campers headed on to their first and second periods. In cooking, they made chocolate chip muffins with chocolate frosting, while drama was learning about projecting their voices and emotions on the big stage. In archery, Stella B. was named “Precision Princess” after shooting a group of arrows within 1.5 inches. Lunch was much celebrated when campers saw we had taco in a bag with lots of toppings to mix.
Several trips went out today for some summer fun, including rafting, kayaking, and hiking.

For dinner, campers enjoyed tortellini with veggies on the side, and for dessert, the famous mini apple fritters! The Amazing Race began right after, with campers running in all directions to compete for their tribes. Jiggity Jog and Jig teamed up for milkshakes as a special treat after evening activity, and the puppies have been making their way to say goodnight to campers all week. With such a busy day, campers headed off for some much-needed rest in their cabins. The summer days are becoming hotter, but campers never stop making memories here at Merri-Mac all day (and night) long!
