It was a warm, sunny morning here at Merri-Mac with a gentle breeze. We started the morning with a delicious breakfast of sausages, french toast and a yogurt bar topped with fresh fruit. After breakfast, the campers made their way up to Chapel. Today’s message was delivered by Adam Kepke who told us that he loves a great story and is drawn to people who are great storytellers. He read from Matthew 15, verses 24 – 26 and spoke about how God invites us into a story that is bigger than us.
We had two all day trips that went out today for fantastic adventures. These were rafting and climbing.
The campers who attended rafting were:
Lilah P.
Livia P.
Charlotte M.
Anna Clark M.
Lilian K.
Emily J.

Ella H.
Elsie C.
Susanna D.
Kate R.
Savannah L.
The campers who attended climbing were:
Mary Floyd A.

Campers went from Chapel to free time where they played lots of fun games before heading off to their first and second activities. Campers in Pottery started glazing their pieces. For Summer Reading the campers had the ideal spot with the right amount of shade from the trees and sun in order to engage in their books. In Arts and Crafts, the campers made animals from perler beads, and in Cooking, the campers were making cinnamon apple tarts.
After the morning activities ended the campers headed to lunch. Today’s lunch included macaroni and cheese, corn dogs, the salad bar and a hot special: potato soup. After lunch, the girls headed to rest time where they enjoyed reading their books and drawing pictures. After rest time, the campers enjoyed a snack from the Trading Post and had free time to play and talk with friends. The most popular snacks today were sour candy and chocolate bars including Twix. Matilda: The Musical rehearsals continued on the back green. Jiggity Jig and Jiggity Jog got to enjoy free swim at the lake during free time.
After free time, campers started their afternoon activities. In Cheer, the campers were working on their tumbling technique and then they practiced some cheer routines. In Watercolour the campers were using water colors to draw and color in their projects which included lots of animals. In PAWS, the campers went on a walk with the puppies around Pippin Hill. The campers also taught the puppies the basic comands of roll over and lie down. In Yoga, the campers did a restful meditation, and in Knitting the campers continued with their projects and the younger campers continued to finger knit. In Drama, the campers continued to rehearse for Matilda and practice improv by playing some improv games. Next the campers headed to dinner. For dinner we had lovely teriyaki chicken served with green beans, rice and spring rolls. The delicious warm bar option was pasta and tomato sauce topped with cheese and the salad bar. Our dessert for tonight was ice cream sandwiches.
Tonight’s tribal evening activity is a camp favourite, Battleball. Battleball is Merri-Mac’s version of dodgeball where the campers try to hit the campers from other tribes with a ball but at the same time, they are trying to not get hit. The tribes each played by cabins area (Tweedles, Bear Camp, and Senior Hill). The biggest moment of the night (and perhaps in Battleball history?) came from Emily J. in the Robin: Representing Black Bear, she was the lone player left against THIRTEEN Red Wolves — and in the most epic comeback we’ve ever seen, BLACK BEAR WON! It is a story that will live on in camp legend FOR SURE! After Battleball, the night finished with campers having some cabin time and devotion.
Today was another lovely sunny and bright day at Camp Merri-Mac.
