It was another chilly morning here at Merri-Mac, accompanied by a fresh breeze. However the bright sun warmed the camp. We started the day off with a delicious breakfast of French toast, sausage, grapes, pineapple, and, as always our yogurt bar. After fueling up for the morning ahead, campers made their way up to Chapel. Today’s message was from Will Troxler who told us a story about when he was a little boy and really wanted to go on the water slide. He took the initiative to go by himself due to the excitement even though his father told him to wait for him. He read from Genesis 3 and spoke about who is man and a brief introduction to sin.
Two trips went out today for great adventures: River Snorkeling and Kayaking.

Campers went from Chapel to their tribe meetings to learn some new tribe songs and more. Once tribal meetings ended, campers headed to their morning activities. Campers in pottery learned the proper techniques for handling clay to make their favorite snack. During summer reading, campers had the perfect reading spot with the right amount of sun and shade from the trees to engage with their novels. Campers in arts and crafts were adding their final touches to their mosaic photo frames or small wood trays by using grout.
After morning activities ended. Today’s lunch included crispy sweet potato fries, a make-your-own BLT sandwich, salad, and a hot special featuring bean soup. After lunch and rest time ended. Campers enjoyed a snack from the Trading Post and had free time to play and chat with friends. Today, the most popular snacks were popcorn or sour candy. Sunnyside and Cloud Nine got to enjoy free swim at the lake!
Afternoon activities included campers in cooking making scrumptious pigs in a blanket topped with seasonings and mac and cheese with cheddar and Colby Jack cheese. In climbing campers learned the different types of climbing holds on our trouverse wall: jug, pinch, crimp, pocket, and sloper. In climbing a fun game of Simon Says was played to check understanding of the different holds. In cheer campers began working on basic tumbling skills adding on to the motions and kicks taught in the first class.
Today’s dinner was very tasty, we enjoyed orange chicken, white rice, stir-fried vegetables, and egg rolls. Today’s hot special featured pasta with tomato sauce and as always we have the fresh salad bar. Our sweet treat for tonight was warm, soft sugar cookies.
Drum roll please. It’s with pleasure to announce that the Black Bear tribe won El Presidente and the Golden Eagles won for spirit.
Tonight’s activity is The Great Escape, a scavenger hunt to find clues to capture the flag. After The Great Escape, the night ended with campers having some cabin time, and devotion.
What an eventful day at Merri-Mac!!
