Pottery will take the place of art and will be headed up by our very own Annie Singletary (wife to Dan Singletary, Timberlake Director). Annie, a proud Iroquois, was a camper as well as a counselor for many years at Camp Merri-Mac and we are thrilled to have her back on staff! Annie is currently teaching classes in Black Mountain and sells her pottery around the area. Pottery is a chance for girls to use their hands to mold and shape something from their imagination, into reality. Girls will have the opportunity for one on one interaction with instructors to help create the best experience possible while in class. This is an opportunity for a creative outlet. Much like cooking, campers will start with something that looks unmanageable and turn it into a finished product! In cooking, campers follow a recipe and place it usually in the oven to bake. In pottery campers will follow this same progression flow. They will go from molding and creating through clay to firing their work in a kiln! After the clay is done “cooking”, the finished product will be revealed! We cannot wait to see the creations our campers come up with!
