Dear Parents,
Welcome to camp!  Merri-Mac started this session with a wonderful opening day. Ann and I especially enjoyed talking with so many of our parents as you checked your girls in.  Thank you for your patience as we knocked the kinks out of a new check-in process. All reports were of a great success, and we’re already planning improvements for our next opening day.
After a year of planning we officially started second session with a swim test, a visit to the camp spa (lice check), followed by a fried chicken dinner and cabin songs.  It’s always fun to see the girls sing as part of their new cabin. Songs are a big deal at camp and people are already talking about tomorrow’s lunch when the girls will sing their tribe songs for the first time in a year. But before any of that the girls met to elect their new tribal officers.
The officers this year are:
Seminole Chief: Keely W.
Seminole Med Man: Morgan S.
Seminole Braves: Natalie C. & Gia V.
Iroquois Chief: Mary Julia G.
Iroquois Med Man: Grace C.
Iroquois Braves: Avery B. & Carson L.
Choctaw Chief: Gabby G.
Choctaw Med Man: Kayla S.
Choctaw Braves: Anna J. & Ella L.
After dinner we went up the mountain for our Second Session 2017 initiation.
The new Merri-Mac Seminoles are: Penelope W., Margaret G., Jane M., Erin R., Ansley S., Sloan H., Eva B., Avery C., Grace M., Elle R., Annie H., Grace C., Leyton G., Marley G., Charlotte W., Grace G., Jane K., Ava K., Lily P., Charissa S., Emily S., and Pierce M.

The new Merri-Mac Choctaws are: Brooklyn O., Carlin B., Katherine L., Sydney B., Louise C., Emme V., Hanna S., Annabelle S., Ainsley S., Ainsley P., and Mary T.
After the ceremony Dreams Begin stayed behind to make s’mores around the waning fire (insider tip #7 – never waste a campfire).
I wanted to end by thanking you again for sharing your daughters with us; we have a great group of girls and we are proud of each of them. We also have some very exciting days lined up so we’ll keep you posted each day.
Great Camping!
