What another fabulous day at Merri-Mac! We woke up this morning to a crowd-pleasing breakfast of french toast sticks, grits, and fruit. Next, we headed to chapel, where we sang some songs, including “Star of the Morning” and “Reckless Love,” and spent some time in God’s word. Up Yonder counselor Collette C. spoke about how we can always find our home in God no matter where we are.

This morning, three trips went out to experience the Gospel through adventure! On the Backpacking trip, led by Emily C. and Collette C., were Riley T., Katherine M., Sabrina R., and Caroline S. The climbing crew was Macy S., Emily P., Peyton O., Jessie G., Lucy Q., and Cate A., and they were led by Macy S. and Morgan P. I had the pleasure of going on the rafting trip led by Jess D. and Ben R. today, along with campers Annabelle B., Emily B., Elianna C., Kate J., Adelaide J., London W., Evie B., Payton C., Dayton K., Isabel P., and Bailey M. We spent a cloudy morning paddling down the French Broad.

After a Merri-Mac classic lunch of “tacos in a bag” we headed to rest hour and then back to our activities. Today was the last day campers had a chance to test for bars, so throughout camp, there was hard work and determination to complete the last challenges in each activity.

For dinner, we enjoyed meatball subs and another camper favorite, s’ mores pockets! After dinner, Golden Eagle dressed in-cabin themes for a creative game of Dutch Auction, while Black Bear, Red Fox, and Blue Heron decked out in tribal gear to compete in tribal trivia, battle ball, and extreme bingo, respectively.

We head to bed tonight dreaming of tomorrow’s breakfast: surprise donut day! Campers will sleep in an extra hour and enjoy donut delivery to the cabins.
