It has been a fantastically festive Christmas Day here at Merri-Mac! Everyone got to sleep in for an extra hour today, and spirits were high as we were woken by the sound of Christmas music and the joyful cheers of our Senior Staff. After each cabin ran outside to the “Christmas Truck”, they were served the classic camp Christmas breakfast: Donuts and Hot Chocolate. After each camper received their stockings full of many treats and their “Secret Santa” letters that they had written for each other, it was time to head to Chapel.

Chapel started off by singing Christmas songs, such as “Silent Night” and “The First Noel”. Today’s message was given by Adam, and his lesson was about being real and being loved by Jesus. He also related his message to ‘The Velveteen Rabbit’ story.

Following Chapel, everyone went to their activity of the morning. Today in cooking, they made the ‘Merri-Mac Christmas Pasta’, and it was absolutely delicious! They made both tomato and pesto sauce, which were red and green. In volleyball, they worked on and practiced over-hand serving and consistent volleys. In backpacking, they learned how to properly use a compass and made hot chocolate. That is just to name a few!

For lunch, we had a Christmas Dinner meal; including Turkey, Stuffing, Peas, and Rolls. Following this meal was Rice Krispy Treats for dessert! Instead of tribe songs today, we sang more Christmas songs! Those songs were “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, “Jingle Bells”, and “The 12 Days of Christmas”.

After rest hour and trading post in the afternoon, activities continued with high spirits until dinner. For dinner tonight is Chicken and Waffles, one of the favorites! Evening activity tonight is ‘El Presidente’, which is a very popular and competitive tribal game.

It sure is a fun-filled day here at Merri-Mac, and it has been a blessing to share all of the details!
