TRIBEFEST for Christmas!!
TRIBEFEST for Christmas!!
It’s a merri Christmas, Merri-Mac! Or should we say….a merri Tribefest???
Today started out just like any old Christmas at camp: honks from the truck arriving at each cabin, “All I Want for Christmas is You” playing loud enough for all of camp to hear, joyous squeals of girls receiving their highly anticipated Christmas donuts. But one thing was different…….the staff riding around on the truck delivering Christmas cheer wasn’t in their typical Christmas attire. Instead, they were wearing…tribe jerseys? This could only mean one thing. Today is Christmas, but it’s also TRIBEFEST!!!!!!
Tribefest is a day at camp where we cancel all of our daily activities and play tribe games all day long!
After we enjoyed our donuts and hot chocolate and cleaned our cabins, we went to chapel donning our very best spirited tribal wear. Then, it was time for the games to begin!
We kicked off Tribefest with a camp favorite…El Presidente! The Black Bears brought their A-game, as they came out victorious in the game AND won spirit points! After El Presidente, we headed to lunch for a full “Christmas dinner” spread, complete with chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, and cookies for dessert!
Next, we had some much needed rest time before playing our second game of the day which was Battleball! Battleball is just like a classic game of dodgeball where tribes compete against each other by age group. The competition was fierce and the games were close, but ultimately the Black Bears pulled out their second win of the day!
Then it was time for dinner where we enjoyed a breakfast for dinner feast to prepare for the next competition…swimfest! Swimfest is just like a swim meet, but includes some sillier races than a normal swim meet would. The races were so tight and so much fun to watch, and the Black Bears captured the victory yet again!
After a long day of joyful competition, it was time to head to bed for some much needed rest. We had such a fun-filled day today and we are so excited to see what’s to come for the rest of our time at camp.
