Let the Tribal Games Begin!
Let the Tribal Games Begin!
What a wonderful first day of camp we’ve had to start off our 3rd session of the summer.
We started our day with a yummy breakfast followed by Chapel led by Will Troxler. Will spoke about his love of watching Annie Mac play with cabinets and the joy she gets from that, which he compared to God’s love of watching us enjoy our life. Will also compared his concern for Annie Mac slamming her finger in the door, to God’s protection from our sin and how He sends His One and only Son to save us and cover our sins completely, as spoken in John 3:16.
We had our first trips of the session go out today!

Each activity today started with a safety talk so the girls could understand how to stay safe in their activities in order to have the most fun! And after those were finished, girls learned the basic skills required for the next two weeks: canoeing sang their famous “parts of the paddle” song to the tune of “Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes,” archery learned the techniques to getting a bullseye (with a high average of 3 bullseyes for class!), and climbing met at the upper tower to learn about the gear they’ll be wearing and the paths they’ll be climbing. These safety talks and skills will be continued tomorrow as well as girls head to their
Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday activities for the first time.
Tribe games started off with the search for the hatchet after lunch. It was found by Black Bear Anna Kate B. under some rocks and leaves. Legend says that means Black Bear is destined to win this session’s banner… we’ll see about that! And tonight’s evening activity is the infamous Sock War where the three tribes face off against one another. It’s our version of capture the flag where two tribes rotate playing each other as girls throw, catch, and sling their socks while runners try to recover their tribe jersey from the other side. The winner will be announced tomorrow.
We can’t wait for the rest of the sessions and for girls to continue to make new friends, grow closer with old ones, and learn more about God and themselves!
