It’s another merri day here at Camp Merri-Mac! Today we started the day with everyone’s favorite- french toast and bacon, with a grits and yogurt bar. Next, we headed to the chapel where we sang “You Say” by Lauren Daigle and received a sermon from Mary Page. She taught us that God had created lots of rules for us so that we can thrive and live joyfully, even though He knows we can’t follow all of them. That’s why He sent His Son to save us, and that is an incredibly beautiful and comforting truth that we can rest in.

We also had our first Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday schedules today! Everyone was so excited to see their friends in their classes, both new and old. Cooking made chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, canoeing played Stinky Fish (similar to hot potato, but in canoes!), and pottery got started on their pieces. The first days of class always leave campers looking forward to the rest of the session.

Later this afternoon, we were cooled off with a little storm. Don’t fret- camp is so much fun in the rain! We played cards, splashed in puddles, and ate our Tray-Po snacks on our porches during free time. Then, once it had settled a bit, campers played pickleball, practiced diving, and even kayaked in the rain.

For dinner we had carnitas tacos to fuel up for our tribal game… Gold Rush!! Campers searched for the gold items (and people!) hidden around Merri-Mac and raced to turn them in for points before a staff “robber” caught them. Red Wolves, Black Bears, and Golden Eagles were seen dashing around camp and our cheers could be heard for miles.

To end the night, we all enjoyed some post-evening activities with our cabins. Tweedles had a slip-n-slide on Macky’s Green while senior hill cabins roasted s’mores. Every cabin had their own exciting way to wrap up the day and we went to bed beyond excited for what is sure to be an amazing day tomorrow.

We can’t wait to share more stories from our favorite place with you! Every day here is a blessing as wonderful as your girls.
