Let the TRIBEFEST Games Begin!
Let the TRIBEFEST Games Begin!
Today, camp was especially exciting because it was….and drumroll please…TRIBEFEST! Instead of going to their daily activities, campers spent all day playing and rooting for their tribes. Before getting into tribe gear, campers started the day with french toast sticks and sausage patties for breakfast. A camp favorite! We then headed to Chapel to sing and hear from Will as he read from John 3:16. Then, campers dressed themselves head to toe in tribal clothing, paint, and glitter and prepared for the first game of the day – The Great Escape! During the Great Escape, campers gathered in small groups within their tribes to travel around camp completing various activities such as singing three cabin songs or naming five countries that start with the letter ’S’ to receive a clue to the next location and ultimately, the flag to win the game. Red Wolves claimed victory of the Great Escape to kick off Tribefest!
The day only got more exciting as campers ended the morning with macaroni and cheese and corn dogs for lunch! Another camp favorite! After a great lunch, campers were treated to an extended rest time and trading post!
After free time, campers changed into their bathing suits and headed to Lake Doris for the next Tribefest game – Swimfest! Swimfest is Merri-Mac’s very own swim meet, with tribes competing in events like 25m and 50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, four-person relays and even diving and bellyflopping competitions! Stay tuned to find out which tribe out-swam the rest!
Campers then had some extra free time to hang out with friends before heading down to dinner. Battleball, the final game of the day, was announced after a dinner of pizza and cheese sticks. Battleball is our version of dodgeball, where tribes compete by throwing and catching balls to eliminate each member of the opposing tribe until none are left. The winner of Battleball will be announced tomorrow!
While most campers participated in Tribefest, some were on exciting adventures outside of camp! Cloud 9 ventured to a swimming hole after lunch to spend some quality time together as a cabin! Other girls spent the day rafting or climbing!
