Today was a beautiful day at camp! We started the morning with waffles and crispy bacon. At Chapel, Margaret Patton spoke about the question, “Who is man?” We read Romans 3:24–25 and talked about how, as humans, we make mistakes, but God sent His Son, Jesus, to forgive us of our sins.

We had three exciting trips today: rafting, kayaking, and hiking!

On the hiking trip, campers from Sunnyside, Big Dipper, and Cloud 9 hiked the Little Cataloochee Trail, a challenging 9.8-mile trek! These campers earned a mark for completing this adventure. After a long hike, they were rewarded with breathtaking views and a huge sense of accomplishment.

Back at camp, campers in PAWS learned the proper way to hold a leash and took the puppies for a walk on Pippin Hill. In Cheerleading, campers worked on cartwheels, stunts, and dance tests for their Bronze Bars. Campbell H. and Ann Sims worked on their Gold Bars in dance today! Lyla J. earned her Gold Bar in kayaking today, which was a huge accomplishment. Between the second activity and lunch, the Tweedles enjoyed some friendly competition with tetherball tournaments during their free time.

Lunch today was a camp favorite, Greek Day! Campers built their own gyros with all their favorite toppings. During lunch, campers also found out that the Golden Eagles won last night’s evening activity and spirit points competition! After lunch, Up Yonder and The Robin enjoyed Free Swim, where campers spent time on the blob, water slide, and swam in the lake.

In afternoon activities, campers in Cooking made quesadillas and customized them with their favorite toppings. In Backpacking, campers learned important knot-tying skills, including the taut-line hitch and the figure-eight knot. Campers in Tennis worked on bars and played a fun game of Jail.

For dinner, we enjoyed teriyaki chicken served with green beans, rice, and spring rolls, followed by Oreo pudding for dessert.

Tonight’s evening activities are Tribal Volleyball and Nukem for Junior Camp!

To end the day with even more fun, Sunnyside is making milkshakes in the Cooking Kitchen, and Tweedle Dee is helping put the puppies to sleep.

Today was another fantastic day at Camp Merri-Mac, and we can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
