Inferno on FIRE!
Today was a wonderful Tuesday at Camp Merri-Mac filled with friends, laughter, and much adventure!
We began the day in Chapel with Will Troxler, who shared a funny story about accidentally spilling sweet tea all over himself. The campers loved the story and the laughs that came with it! Will then read from Ephesians 3:12 and spoke about the confidence and freedom we have through faith in Christ. It was a great way to start the day together and reflect on God’s love and faithfulness.
There was some exciting tribal news today. The Golden Eagles had an incredible day, earning both the Mission Impossible victory and Spirit Points! Winning both on the same day is a huge accomplishment, and the tribe was bursting with excitement and pride as they celebrated together.
Tonight’s tribal evening activity was one of camp’s most exciting games: Inferno! During Inferno, each tribe is responsible for protecting its own fire while trying to extinguish the fires of the other tribes. Campers travel to activity stations all around camp, including Tennis and many other favorite activities, where they complete challenges to earn wood for their tribe’s fire. At the same time, campers carry cups of water in hopes of putting out the other tribes’ fires! The challenge becomes even greater because tribal leaders are scattered throughout camp trying to tag, or “sting,” campers before they can complete their missions. Inferno is a fast-paced game that requires teamwork, strategy, speed, and lots of tribal spirit. Campers spent the evening running all over camp, cheering for their tribes, and doing everything they could to help their team come out on top.
In Canoeing, Anna Catherine P. organized a canoeing tournament that brought out plenty of friendly competition on Lake Doris. After a great afternoon on the water, Emi R. and Paige C. paddled their way to victory and were crowned tournament champions!
Back at activities, campers had an exciting day of learning new skills and celebrating accomplishments. Kendall H. was thrilled after hitting two bullseyes during archery today.
The afternoon canoe trip was another highlight of the day. Millie S., Sadie C., Lyla J., Candler L., Elizabeth K., Anna Catherine P., Uma V., Ellaree H., Emi R., Paige C., Reece P., and Allie W. spent the afternoon out on the water enjoying the beautiful lake. The group had so much fun that their singing could be heard all across camp! Their enthusiasm and camp spirit made for an unforgettable trip.
Before dinner, we took our all-camp picture! It’s always fun to have every camper in one photo, and after we took our smiling, pretty one, we took a few silly ones! (6-7 and scuba seem to be the theme for being silly this summer!!!)
