Sundays at Camp Merri-Mac are always a little different, offering everyone a chance to slow down and move at a more leisurely pace. This morning, cabins Sunnyside and Tweedle Dee helped bring the story of the Prodigal Son to life during chapel, reminding camp of God’s forgiveness, grace, and unconditional love for mankind.

Instead of our usual activity rotations, campers enjoyed a true day of rest while still making the most of every moment. After an hour-later wakeup, a cinnamon roll breakfast, and a visually-engaging chapel, we hosted a triathlon! This triathlon was a great way to give campers the chance to challenge themselves, cheer on their friends, and experience a fun adventure! We had a wide range of cabin participation, which made cheering on our friends even more exciting.

The afternoon was filled with memorable experiences as some campers headed out on a mountain biking trip and a river snorkeling trip. Whether exploring scenic trails or swimming with some fish, campers embraced the beauty and tranquility of the outdoors.

Later, the excitement continued as camp gathered in the chapel to watch the World Cup Final, where Argentina and Spain faced off in an exciting match that had campers and counselors cheering throughout.

As the day wound down, everyone enjoyed one of camp’s favorite traditions—a cookout dinner complete with hot dogs and hamburgers, watermelon, chips, cookies, and refreshing lemonade.

This evening, the entire camp came together for one of the most entertaining nights of the session: Vespers. Counselors showcased their creativity and humor through a variety of hilarious skits that had campers laughing from beginning to end. To close out the evening, the Black Mountain Oysters shared their musical talents, filling camp with great music and plenty of smiles. It was the perfect ending to a restful Sunday, a day centered on faith, friendship, fun, and making memories that will last long after camp comes to an end.
