…And on the seventh day He rested.
…And on the seventh day He rested.
“…And on the seventh day He rested.“
Sundays are cherished days here at Merri-Mac. Campers and councilors take a break from their regular schedule of activities for a day of rest and relaxation. Wearing their Sunday whites, the girls like to hang out by the lake and in their enos, write letters, and work on their bars. Everyone is always grateful for hours of peaceful free time.
The day began with a special chapel lead by Comet cabin, who told the story of Jesus feeding the 5000 in Matthew 14. At lunch we all enjoyed the traditional Sunday meal of fried chicken, and sang fun Christian songs. The cabin cake winners were then announced as Tweedle Doe for junior camp, Stardust for intermediate camp, and Dreams End for senior camp. These girls sure worked hard to keep their cabins tidy! Lunch was followed by an extra long and extra appreciated rest hour. We all know that rest is just as important as the activities it prepares us for.
As rest hour ended, Lake Doris was open for free swim. Everyone had a great time diving, swimming and blobbing to beat the afternoon heat. When it was about time for dinner, the campers all lined up for Sunday cookout: burgers, hot dogs, watermelon and cookies. The delicious meal was followed by vespers, one of our favorite evening activities. We all had a blast rocking out with the Black Mountain Oysters and laughed our heads off as Larry Potter stole the stage once again. After a powerful word from Adam, the campers were headed off for time with their cabins before bed.
At the end of the day, we are all rested and prepared for another great week at Merri-Mac. These days of laid back fun allow us all to attack the week full force, enjoying every moment.
