It was a Merry Christmas today at Merri-Mac, as all the campers and counselors woke up to the honking of the donut/hot chocolate truck outside their cabins and a stocking on their bed filled with yummy candy (how sweet)! The girls got to wake up an hour later than usual on this special day (8AM, woohoo)! Dressed in their festive outfits, they enjoyed their special breakfast outside.

Happy Hollow friends Eloise D. and Flannery P. say that they love celebrating Christmas at Merri-Mac and that it is one of the most super fun things about camp.

The Christmas cheer continued throughout the day with chapel at 10AM. The girls sang Christmas songs such as Silent Night and The First Noel. Our jolly camp director, Adam Boyd, delivered the chapel message today answering the question, “Who is Jesus?” He is the great, beloved, son of the most high, and God himself.

After chapel, the girls headed to their super fun activities for the day. Some girls even continued wearing their Christmas PJs! Campers were working extra hard today since it was the last day to work on their bronze, silver, or gold bars. The pottery studio was hard at work, finishing their pieces. In DIY, the girls were having fun on their craft: decorating notebooks with magazine clippings! Alexandra L. from Cloud Nine, particularly enjoyed being creative with her notebook. She said she glued things that she liked on it such as golf and sushi. In Cooking, the girls made pasta and bread. Sarah G. from Happy Hollow said it was super fun to make, especially because they got to prepare two different sauces.

Today’s menu for lunch was Christmas dinner (you read that right)! The super yummy meal included turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green peas, and bread rolls. After lunch, we all sang Christmas songs like The 12 Days of Christmas. All the girls were in the jolly, Christmas spirit.

After rest hour, the girls ran to get in line for trading post during this sugar filled day. The trading post was recently stocked this week with lots of goodies. During free time, the girls enjoyed time together, while other girls participated in camper-hosted volleyball and swimming tournaments. Then it was back to their activities for third and fourth period. Girls enjoyed archery, summer reading, and knitting!

Dinner time came rolling around soon and everyone ate breakfast for dinner! The girls enjoyed scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage links, biscuits, and blueberry muffins. It sure did fill them up for the evening activity which was counselor hunt! Counselors hid all over camp, dressed in black or cameo. Once a camper found them, they took the counselor to Lake Doris where they were pushed into the water. This is definitely many campers’ favorite activity and brought smiles to lots of faces.

The girls had lots of fun on this festive day and are ready for another exciting day tomorrow!

Merry Christmas,
