Good morning Camp Merri-Mac!

It was a beautiful day here in Black Mountain; the birds were singing and the sun was shining! The girls woke up bright and early at 7 A.M. and ran down the mountain to enjoy a breakfast of French toast and sausage. In an exciting turn of events, Kristie announced the evening activity at breakfast which is ….. APACHE RACE! The girls erupted into tribal chants and cheers and rushed off to hear a chapel story from counselor Keely W.

After chapel, the girls went to their morning activities. I loved getting to see all the girls in every activity, and I even got to see Olivia S. test for her bronze in drama! Lunch today was a camp favorite, mini corndogs, and mac-n-cheese. We celebrated birthdays for both Mary H and Olivia L with the whole camp singing! After lunch, the girls headed up for rest hour. Then we had free time where everyone sprinted down to get their candy and compete in some tetherball.

The campers were just as excited for the third and fourth periods as they were for the morning classes. I got to see Sami S learn some chords in guitar and Claire R climb the overhang on the upper climbing wall!

All of our trips got back during these classes also! We had three trips out today: Rafting with Jane K., Kate A., Remy S., Madison W., Lauren B., Anna O., Nellie R., Margaret R., Julia D., Hayley F., Sarah W., Emma W., Ansleigh S., Gracie A., Charlotte C., Austyn D., Kiera L., and Meghan M. ; Mountain Biking with Finley M., Samantha P., Anna Gooding., BellaRose G., Annie H., Kate O. ; and Backpacking with Carly M., Saylor V., Rebecca M., Lucy S., Harper R., Kate N., Sarah W., Sophie T., Katie K., Poppy S., Bo M., and Marjory M.

As I’m writing this, I am getting to see all the campers in their tribe jerseys and paint, and I can’t wait to watch the Apache Race! (Go Seminoles)
