It’s a Merri day, Merri-Mac!

This morning we woke up to a hearty breakfast of eggs, sausage, potatoes, and coffee cake. With warm food in our bellies we were able to start our activities with vigor. Cooking made chicken quesadillas on the grill (the girls chose their extra toppings of peppers, olives or spinach), volleyball worked on their serves, and backpacking learned how to do water filtration. We had several trips go out today including a hike to Hawksbill Mountain for a 360 view of Linville Gorge!

For lunch we enjoyed caesar salad wraps, pretzel bites, and a side of apples. During announcements, Santa ran through the dining hall and proclaimed that Christmas Eve had arrived! The campers cheered and sang for joy, they were looking forward to the donuts and hot chocolate that Christmas morning would bring. The afternoon continued on with tray-po and freetime activities (tetherball, octoball, and nail painting). After freetime, campers continued to work on their bars in classes and three girls earned their gold in Volleyball! And in DIY girls were taught how to draw their favorite snack and color them. But the greatest achievement of the day was the amount of girls who mastered the wheel in Pottery!

Dinner consisted of chicken alfredo, vegetables, and cheesy tots, eaten by girls who were decked out in their Christmas pajamas and silly santa hats. White Feather was tonight, we honored girls for their achievements during the past week and even congratulated two junior white feathers (just one rank below the White Feather rank!).

Congratulations to all these girls! But tonight’s festivities were not over! After White Feather, counselors gathered at Tucker Inn to fill camper stockings with candy and begin a candlelight caroling through the cabins. We look forward to Christmas in July tomorrow!
