Friday June 7th

Today was an amazing day as campers are getting into the swing of things here at camp. The day began with some delicious blueberry muffins and baked oatmeal!

After breakfast, the girls hurried up to the chapel where we sang beautifully next to Lake Dorris and Adam Kepke shared a reflective message about how God chose us and how that is a true gift!

Then the girls separated to their activities where they learned rolls in the kayaks, kept the puppies company, and scored soccer goals looking out from the top of Pippin hill. When lunch time rolled around, girls were so excited to hear about the greek food that would soon be devoured, so after we sang the superman prayer they were quick to enjoy their pitas filled with greek seasoned chicken and other toppings.

CHEER! CHEER! CHEER! A highlight of the day was the energetic tribe cheers after we finished lunch. Red wolves took the win home from mission impossible after a Chief to Chief matchup of rock paper scissors to solve a tie between the golden eagles and the red wolves! The golden eagles won the spirit points. The evening activity was announced…. Battle Ball!!! A definite crowd pleaser!

We took some well deserved rest during the rest hour then delighted in trading post snacks, tether ball, and gaga ball during free time. Then activities resumed with canoe slides, swim relays, and much more!

For dinner we enjoyed some yummy cheesy potatoes, peas, rolls, and pork! And for dessert… M&M cookies. What a treat! Then it was time for our very first White Feather ceremony of the year. The White Feather ceremony celebrates campers who earned more marks and promotions leading up to receiving their White Feather this week. We also celebrated campers who were recognized by fellow cabin mates and counselors for exceptional character this week by being kind but not weak and strong but not mean. Here is a list of all of the campers who were recognized at tonight’s weekly ceremony:

Battle ball kicked off a fun competition in the Mike. The Black Bears, Golden Eagles and Red Wolves are all fighting hard for the banner this summer.

Some cabins then returned for a post evening activity, maybe smores, slip ‘n slide, or puppy time. This is a great time for campers to bond with cabin mates and create life-long connections. Devotionals that reflected today’s chapel message were the final activity of the night to complete a sunny Friday at Merri Mac!
