Today was a great first Saturday for 1B! Merri-Mac started off the morning with sausage and pancakes and dining hall songs. At the chapel, we sang “Pharaoh, Pharaoh” (a camp classic) and heard a “True Story with Will Troxler”. Will told a story from his childhood and his message was about sin and our deep need for Christ’s redeeming love. This is highlighted in Ephesians 1:3-10, which says: “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” A wonderful reminder of our own brokenness and the hope we have in Christ! After chapel we went to activities! Campers have been carefully honing in their skills in the first session and this was very evident around camp today! Junior Lifeguarding began learning water extrications with backboards (a very advanced skill) while across the dock kayaking trained their rolls, in preparation for combat rolls on the river. Down the hill in yoga, campers worked on new, advanced poses and learned a new flow. Cooking had a tea party with chocolate chip scones and tea of choice! Over in the fencing pavilion, Mattie H. and Claire J. worked on scoring points!  Down in the Backpacking Hut, they had a wonderful fire and made s’mores (a favorite activity)! Lunch was a delicious club sandwich and (everyone’s favorite) pretzel bites! After rest hour, campers enjoyed trading post, and cabins Tweedle Dee and Dum got to go to Free Swim! Two groups of campers went on adventures today- climbing the Little Lost Cove and rafting down the French Broad Section 9.

Trips are a great way to explore our local wilderness and have new adventures! Dinner was brisket sandwiches and (another camp favorite) funfetti cake! Tonight’s evening activity was Mission Impossible, a game with 5 different activities around camp that tribes must complete in order to win points. Finishing up the night, Cloud 9 had a fun night on the slip n slide, Rainbow a surprise visit to Trading Post, and Stardust a yummy field trip to the cooking kitchen for milkshakes! So thankful for another wonderful day at Merri-Mac!
