Sundays Are for Cinnamon Rolls, Song Fest, and Sisterhood
Today was one of those restful Sundays that make camp feel like home! We started the morning with something sweet—cinnamon rolls! As always, they were a huge hit with campers and counselors alike. After breakfast, we made our way to the chapel. The songs—“Give Me Oil,” “My Lighthouse,” and “10,000 Reasons”—filled the air with voices lifted high and hearts full of joy. This morning’s chapel was led by Dreams Begin, our rising freshmen, and they did an incredible job reminding us that God sees us far beyond our mistakes. They spoke beautifully about Jesus’ unconditional love and grace, and how He meets us exactly where we are.
Later in the morning, cabins split off for some intentional time together—a chance to just be with our cabin. Tweddle Doe & Dum danced through the sprinkler set, filling the turf with squeals and giggles. Over at the pickleball courts, Moonmist had a fierce tournament going, with Lucy M. holding her own and winning several games in a row! There were multiple trips taken out today that helped remind girls of our motto “Growth through friends and adventure”

We gathered again for lunch, where the dining hall was buzzing—not just from the delicious Southwest wraps and curly fries, but from the Curly Fry Contest. Cabins competed to find the longest curly fry, with Stardust winning the competition for Senior Hill. Though, Hannah M., Frances H. and Katherine B. lead the charge for Sunnyside in the most creative way imaginable, taping together paper towels and fries, to create one large fry! Jiggity Jog, Rainbow, and Dreams End were rewarded with cabin cakes at the end of lunch. After rest hour (which we all needed after that morning!), it was time for one of our favorite traditions: Song Fest! Each tribe was given a set of lyrics and had to turn them into a full-blown performance.
The evening brought something extra special—our CITs cooked an incredible cookout dinner! We had burgers, hotdogs, watermelon, pasta salad, and of course, the best part…MOOKIES! There’s nothing like ending the weekend with a meal made by our oldest campers, who are learning so much about leadership and service. As the sun began to set, we made our way to Vespers, dressed in our red, white, and blue for a USA-themed night of storytelling, skits, and songs. It was silly, sweet, and everything in between—closing with a Bible story. To top it all off, Comet got a special surprise: a nighttime Slip ‘N Slide! Laughter echoed from down the hill —what a perfect way to end a Sunday at camp.
It’s hard to believe we only have four days left of First Session, but if today was any teller, the best is still yet to come. We’re soaking up every second here at camp!
With a grateful heart,
