Today we welcomed our 1B campers to camp! Mary Page and I love opening days because we get to welcome so many new friends to camp and see so many camp reunions happen right before our eyes. Camp is always buzzing with laughter, excitement, and joy.

Once check-in wrapped up, we had a picnic lunch on the Back Green with croissant sandwiches, chicken salad, and kale mac salad. After lunch we headed to Lake Doris for a quick swim check and spent the afternoon with our cabins learning all our new cabin mates and getting to know our counselors. For dinner, we had spaghetti with meatballs and a delicious ice cream sandwich for dessert. A great first dinner at camp!

Following dinner, we headed up to the Council Ring for our tribal initiation where new campers are initiated into one of three mighty tribes: the Black Bears, the Red Wolves, and the Golden Eagles. Tribes are a really important part of camp as they help immediately establish a sense of belonging for our new campers and a strong sense of community for returning campers. Tomorrow we will kick off tribal games with our first evening activity.

I hear a lot of laughter all over camp tonight – it is exciting for camp to be in full swing and we can’t wait for what tomorrow holds. Thank you for sharing your daughters with us this summer!
