Today was an exciting first full day at camp! The day started off with breakfast and today’s meal was a personal favorite of french toast and bacon. After breakfast everyone headed up to chapel where we sang the classic camp song Pharaoh Pharaoh followed by How He Loves. After chapel, girls headed up to their first tribal meeting of the session and then dove straight into activities.
We had girls in so many different activities today! Today was safety talk day which is where counselors go over a few rules about that activity so that girls can have the best experience in those classes these next two weeks. In archery and riflery girls learned all the range commands so that they know how and when they can shoot safely. In tennis girls went through the racquet choosing ceremony… or should I say the player choosing ceremony since it is the racquet that chooses the players. Pottery started off their lessons with pinch pots that they will be able to glaze and then take home at the end of the session. Cooking also made some delicious m&m cookies! There were so many more fun activities that girls participated in, and I am sure that they will all come home with new skills.
We also had a rafting trip go out today! The following girls spent the day rafting and having fun on the French Broad River.

Today was a very full day because we also took the camp photo! Fourth period ended early, and girls went to their cabins where they changed into their Sunday whites and staff put on their staff shirts. We then all made our way to the back green where we took our camp photo! After the photo girls headed to dinner which was ham, pasta, green beans, and scalloped potatoes!
Today’s evening activity is sock war, a camp favorite! To play, girls have a long sock and try to tag girls in the opposing tribe with it. If a camper gets hit by another girl’s sock, they get taken to jail and the other team gets a point!
Today was such a joy filled day, and I cannot wait for the rest of this session!
It’s a great day to have a great day!
