We had a warm, sunny Christmas day here at Camp Merri-Mac! The festivities started first thing, with an extra hour of sleep and a truck full of donuts, yogurt, bananas, and hot chocolate delivered right to our cabin doors! Everyone enjoyed wearing their cute holiday pajamas and dancing to Christmas tunes on the gravel pathway. From there, we all went to Chapel, where Margaret taught us about Romans 5:6, discussing God’s faithfulness to us even when we are unable to clean up our own messes.

Quite a few campers got to embark on exciting trips including an all day hiking, climbing, and overnight backpacking.

After Chapel everyone was off to morning activities. Backpacking was busy learning how to filter water and tie a bear bag, while girls in kayaking and canoeing worked on rolling and shallow water rescue. Girls in knitting put on the finishing touches to their stuffed bunnies and girls in guitar strummed the chords to Riptide.

The kitchen served us a delicious meal for lunch, including fried chicken tenders, corn, and dinner rolls. The salad bar was, of course, also full of delicious options for our campers!

After lunch, rest hour, and Trading Post, campers headed on to afternoon activities where they made Christmas pasta in cooking, bouted in fencing, went on a trail ride in horseback riding, and took the puppies on a walk in PAWS. 

Campers enjoyed breakfast for dinner, including chicken and waffles, yogurt, and donut holes. Dessert was a fresh baked blueberry muffin.

We ended the evening with Sock War, where one tribe tries to capture the other tribe’s flag while trying not to get hit with a sock! The goal is to get into the safe zone, grab a flag, and run back to your side’s base without getting tagged. The game is arranged so that each tribe gets an opportunity to battle the other two for a chance at victory. 

I think it is safe to say that everyone enjoyed getting to adventure on this beautiful day at Camp Merri-Mac!
