Second session is flying by this year at Camp Merri-Mac! It is hard to believe that we only have one more full day of activities! Today, we woke up to the bugle at 7am, cleaned our cabins, got dressed for the day, and headed down to the Tucker Inn for breakfast.

The kitchen served up a camper favorite of French toast sticks and bacon, with the options of grits, fruit, and yogurt at the healthy bar. After singing some silly songs at our tables, we headed straight up to Chapel to sing and listen to a message from Maddie Lemmon on the importance of having humility and trusting God as seen in Romans 15:13.

Our morning classes were full of activity and excitement. Campers in riflery focused on precision shooting, while PAWs did a relay race with the puppies and climbing worked hard on making it to the top of the Upper Tower, where they are encouraged to shout “I’m a mountain women,” as loud as they can.

For lunch we had delicious cheese quesadillas, tortilla chips, and grapes.  Towards the end of lunch, campers sang (shouted) their tribe songs and learned who won The Battle for Middle Earth, which was played two nights ago! Spoiler alert…Black Bears won! Finally, the campers found out that the evening activity was Cabin Night! This is where each cabin participates in an activity with just the members of their cabin, helping to build comradery and friendships amongst their cabinmates. Some of the options include playing pickleball, “Trashin” Shows, making s’mores, having free swim, and doing the Slip ‘n Slide.

After lunch, campers headed to rest hour then to Trade-Po to get an afternoon snack. A popular favorite today was Nerd Gummy Clusters with Gatorade, which they enjoyed while playing gaga ball and tetherball down by the Tweedle Lodge. Dreams Begin enjoyed having Free Swim during their free time today where they did the blob, jumped off the diving boards, and swam around with their friends in the amazing Lake Doris!

Later on, we had third and fourth period, before heading down to dinner for a meal of ham, macaroni and cheese, and cornbread. After dinner, campers sang their cabin songs for the second-to-last time, and then found out what they were doing for Cabin Night! The Robin did the Slip ‘n Slide, Tweedles had a fashion show, and Rainbow raided Trade-Po, just to name a few.

Each cabin wrapped up the night by showering, getting ready for bed, and doing a devotional on this morning’s chapel. As another awesome day at camp comes to an end, we are ever grateful for the girls here, God’s creation, and the opportunity we get to experience new adventures in such a beautiful place.
